On December 26, 2017, at 2:28 p.m. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communication Center received a call from the 6200 block of Dundee Drive within the north area of Sacramento County. The caller indicated bones were located in the backyard of a residence and the caller suspected the bones to be human.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded and located some of the remains, which had surfaced from beneath the ground. Patrol deputies along with homicide investigators utilized various stages of verification and determined the remains were human.
As the preliminary stages of this investigation progressed, investigators spent almost two days at the location and were able to unearth an entire human skeleton. The remainder of the property was checked by investigators and it was determined no other remains were buried on the premises.
At the time of this discovery, the residence on the property was vacant and the remains were discovered by workers assisting in the renovation of the home. At this time it is not believed the remains are ancient and the matter is being investigated as a suspicious death.
The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to next of kin.
