A little before 10:30 p.m. on July 25, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a shooting which occurred in the 8400 block of Florin Road (Chevron Gas Station) in South Sacramento.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a 20-year-old male victim on the ground in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Deputies immediately began life saving measures. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim was an employee of the gas station.
Deputies learned that one of the employees of the gas station was cleaning the gas station parking lot. At one point he had a verbal altercation with two to three suspects that were loitering in the parking lot. One of the suspects physically assaulted the employee during the verbal altercation. That employee went inside the store to call 911 about the assault. His co-worker (victim) then exited the store and was approached by these same suspects. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired several shots at the victim, inevitably killing him.
The suspects were described as three Hispanic male adults. They fled the scene in a light colored compact car south on French Road.
The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
