On March 16, 2017, the Sheriff’s Department was alerted to allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct between John Richard Young, 53, of Sacramento and a 17 year old female victim. Young was a teacher at Sheldon High School in Elk Grove, and the allegations were that these incidents occurred over the past year. The Elk Grove Unified School District was notified of the allegations, and immediately placed Young on administrative leave pending the investigation.
The investigation was conducted by the Sheriff’s Department Sexual Assault and Elder Abuse Bureau. The case was turned over to the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office and a warrant was issued for Young’s arrest.
On May 2, 2017, the Sacramento Police Department arrested Young at his residence on the outstanding felony warrant for oral copulation with a person under 18 years of age. Young is being held in custody in-lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on May 4, 2017.
