Rancho Cordova Police Department’s Volunteers

The Rancho Cordova Police Department’s Volunteers are an important part of the team.  The volunteer staff allows the Officers and Deputies of the Rancho Cordova Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department East Division to provide an even higher level of service to the surrounding community.

This is a unique department as it serves both the citizens of Rancho Cordova and the surrounding county areas.  The VIPS (Volunteers in Partnership with the Sheriff) is a county organization with the members serving in various districts within the county.

Our Volunteers are currently participating in the following programs:

  • Community Partnerships – Neighborhood Crime Watch, Business Crime Watch, Special Events, Community Emergency Response Team.
  • Investigations – Missing persons follow up, special projects
  • Records – Clerical, computer data entry for the Traffic and Crime Analysis Unit
  • Service Center – Customer Service, including citizen walk in and phone contact, prepare crime reports and community events
  • Volunteer Patrol – Vacation checks, holiday patrol, bike and property pick up

We are constantly adding new opportunities for our volunteers to become involved in the department and the community.

All applicants must pass a background check. A record of criminal misdemeanors and/or felony violations or other infractions of the law may be disqualifying. We request a commitment of a minimum of 4 hours per week.
