On July 1, 2003 the City of Rancho Cordova officially became an incorporated City. The City of Rancho Cordova established a Law Enforcement services contract with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, thus forming the Rancho Cordova Police Department. The Rancho Cordova Police Department is providing quality and efficient Law Enforcement services to the citizens of Rancho Cordova.
Upon incorporation, the City adopted an agreement stating that all Law Enforcement within the City of Rancho Cordova shall be provided by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and shall include the enforcement of State statutes, including City codes and ordinances.
The contracted services include; Patrol, Traffic Enforcement, Investigations, and Administrative services. As part of the City’s contract with SSD, the City pays the salaries for 55 sworn and 7 non-sworn staff, which works solely within the City.
The Police Station is located at 2897 Kilgore Road in the City of Rancho Cordova.
Any calls for service occurring outside the Rancho Cordova City boundaries, but within the unincorporated area of Sacramento County are handled by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
Any traffic complaints, concerns, collisions occurring outside the Rancho Cordova City boundaries, but within the unincorporated area of Sacramento County are handled by the California Highway Patrol.
